SmarterWX Locate makes it easy to include your enquiries inside your own mapping applications by exposing your data as a Feature Layer using the ArcGIS REST API format. This allows you to share enquiry responses across your team without having your users have to log into SmarterWX Locate.

The URL for the SmarterWX Locate feature layer is: –

https://locate-api.smarterwx.com.au/geoservice/SmarterWX_Locate/rest/services/Enquiries/FeatureServer/0

This URL is secured and requires your SmarterWX Locate credentials to connect. Using simple proxy patterns such as the Esri Resource Proxy allows you to store your credentials for a login free experience.

The SmarterWX Locate feature layer supports the standard query operations such as the where clause which can be used to filter based on a specific team or user or by status. The layer has default symbology based on the enquiries’ status which can be overridden if required for your needs.

If you don’t currently have a web mapping application, you might want to try ArcGIS Online.

Anonymous or Authenticated Enquiry View

Each enquiry viewed through the feature layer includes a URL that links back to the enquiry details page in SmarterWX Locate. Users clicking on this URL will need to login (if they are not already logged in) to SmarterWX in order to view the details.

As an organisation administrator you can choose to enable an anonymous read-only mode whereby a user clicking the enquiry in your web map will not be required to login to SmarterWX Locate. The anonymous users can only view the enquiries that you share via your web map and cannot make any updates to the information.

To enable anonymous read-only mode: –

  1. Click on the avatar in the top-right hand corner of SmarterWX Locate and select “Organisations“.
  2. Click on the checkbox for “Non-authenticated access for GIS viewers”
