An opportunity is Created, when the two projects meet the opportunity rules for one of the projects. This can be triggered in many ways: –

  • Adding a new project
  • Updating a project’s geometry
  • Updating a project’s start date
  • Updating a project’s end date
  • Updating the matching rules

The project owner will be notified when an opportunity is created for one of their projects.

Opportunity Lifecycle

An Opportunity Update is triggered when the properties or geometry of the linked project are changed and the opportunity rules still apply. The opportunity owner will be notified whenever there is a change to the linked project.

An opportunity can be Archived in two ways: Manually by the user or automatically as a result of data updates.

If the opportunity owner has assessed the feasibility of collaborating with another project and determined that it is not possible, he can choose to Archive the opportunity. This stops any future notifications about this pair of projects.

The system will automatically archive an opportunity as a result of data updates: –

  • Dates no longer overlap (within time buffer)
  • Geometries no longer overlap (within distance buffer)
  • Linked project is deleted
  • Opportunity owner’s project is deleted
