Opportunity Matching by Distance

An opportunity is created when two projects are determined to be overlapping in both time and space. The definition of overlapping is determined by the Opportunity Rules in the published workspace and will be different for each organisation.

Opportunity Matching

These two projects are 25m apart. If Organisation A has an opportunity rule with a maximum distance of 30m this will be classed as a match and an opportunity will be created for Organisation A’s project owner.

If Organisation B has an opportunity rule with a maximum distance of 20m this will not be a match and no opportunity will be created for the project owner of Organisation B.

Opportunity Matching by Time

Opportunity Matching by time

These two projects are 12 months apart (end to start). If Organisation A has an opportunity rule with a maximum lag time of 18 months this will be classed as a match and an opportunity will be created for Organisation A’s project owner.

If Organisation B has an opportunity rule with a maximum lead time of 6 months this will not be a match and no opportunity will be created for the project owner of Organisation B.

Note: The project status is also used for Opportunity Matching. An opportunity will not be created for a closed or completed project.
